In 1918, he made his debut in the literary world with the publication of his first book of poems titled “Los heraldos negros.” Two years later, in 1920, he found himself imprisoned for a duration of 112 days.

Vallejo’s literary journey continued in 1922 with the publication of “Trilce,” a collection of poetry that showcased his innovative and experimental style. The following year, he ventured into prose writing and embarked on a journey to Paris, a city that attracted many artists and intellectuals during that era.

In 1928, Vallejo traveled to the Soviet Union, and upon his return to Paris, he severed ties with APRA (American Popular Revolutionary Alliance), a political party in Peru. The following year, he once again visited the Soviet Union, and in 1930, he journeyed to Spain. However, due to political reasons, he faced expulsion from Paris but found solace in Spain once again.

In 1931, Vallejo published his novel “De él Tugsteno.” He subsequently returned to the Soviet Union and became a member of the Communist Party of Spain. In 1932, he made his way back to Paris, where he lived in clandestine conditions. As the Spanish Civil War unfolded, Vallejo participated in the Congress of Antifascist Writers held in Madrid in 1937, aligning himself with the fight against fascism.

Throughout his eventful life, César Vallejo left an indelible mark on Peruvian and international literature with his poignant and socially conscious works, all while actively engaging in political movements of his time.

Cesar Vallejo was a renowned Peruvian poet, playwright, and journalist. He is considered one of the most influential Latin American poets of the 20th century. Vallejo’s works often explore themes such as social injustice, human suffering, and the complexity of the human condition. His poetry is characterized by its emotional depth, vivid imagery, and innovative use of language. Vallejo’s major works include “Trilce,” “The Black Heralds,” and “Human Poems.” Despite his untimely death at the age of 46, Cesar Vallejo’s impact on literature continues to resonate globally.

WORKS:
Poetry
Los Heraldos Negros , without imprint, Lima,
